I have a G60 flywheel here,is it worth exchanging for a new one or will this used one be fine?
-
They're very tough & don't really have that hard a life, but if you want to exchange it for peace of mind, then I'll think you'll get about £25 exchange for it from VW.
-
Might just keep this one and get it fitted before the stage2 map,it's bound to go soon afterwards anyway
-
tough as old boots.. use the money you might have put towards an exchange on a new one and get it lightened instead :afro:
-
How much lighter would you recommend? It's 9KG at the moment.
-
Apparently, lightened G60's vibrate a lot more in Mk4's, though?? :undecided:
-
I've read that you can lose some torque if you go too light aswell....?

Not sure about that, but I know the lighter it is, the quicker the revs drop off when you change gear.

I've got a used ABF flywheel I'll be getting skimmed to use after the remap

That's what mine is off,i found out they were the same part years ago, this info now appears on most forums
-
yup everyone was struggling finding the G60 flywheels when the ABF was the same
Got mine for £20 off a mate who was breaking a valver about a year ago
-
What is the part number on yours?

Not much, just a skim.. atleast that way you can be confident it's balanced right too. Quicker rev-up = quicker spool.

I'll go and have a look in a sec mate, might not be able to see it under all the surface rust though lol
