Found this, it might just be US models, not sure.

Heard about this on another forum also. I doubt it will be long before they do the same over here....
On a positive note... it only effects DSG :lipsrsealed:

The recall is due to insufficiently crimped connector wires in the wiring harness of a temperature sensor, which is in the direct-shift gearbox. This could cause the temperature sensor to incorrectly detect a high oil temperature in the gearbox, which could cause the gear to suddenly shift to neutral. It will also illuminate the depress-brake-pedal light, which warns the driver to apply the brakes. This could lead to a dangerous situation on the road, even possibly a crash.
this is exactly what happens when driver input is taken away from new cars. at least it's not like the new volvos with AUTOMATIC braking - accidents waiting to happen.

Thanks for that
Why can't it just go into some sort of limp, get you home mode?

So glad I plumped for the manual gearbox!!  those with the dsg will be hoping it's not uk cars or they'll be pretty

ragh! insufficient crimping leading to a potentially dangerous crash!
glad I have a manual as well!

So, would I be right in assuming that those of us whose cars had not left the factory when the recall was announced, should have nothing to worry about with this one?
Rolfe.

You should have nothing to worry about. When the dealer PDIs a brand new car, they should automatically check for any outstanding recalls, service bulletins, or any other kind of advisory. You wouldn't even notice.

hi hi hi yup, am happy with the manual... I will seriously contemplate a DSG system maybe in 5 years... when all the gremlims are ironed out for good...
