Title: New gti need service
Post by: fgti on 25 August 2009, 23:29
Hi im new to the forums and ive recently bought a golf gti '00 1.8T AUM and its in need of a full service. Ive searched quite abit for the correct oil to use and there seems to be alot of confusion.

I think im going to buy the filters and whatnot from here http://www.vwspares.co.uk/g4filters.php (http://www.vwspares.co.uk/g4filters.php) there are 2 oils to choose from;

one is platinum and the other long life which one should i pick?

also for the filters should i buy all genuine parts or the mann ones ?

Any help would be appreciated! :)

long life is for more high milege cars so it depends on your milege... theres nothing wrong with any of them tho both will be fine they wont fook up your engine or anything just makesure its fully synthetic oil :smiley:

Should the filters be OEM parts or it doesnt matter?

I only use oem stuff.. more for peace of mind than anything. I've never heard any horror stories about the MANN filters (fram filters are a different matter..) but the price difference is less than 2 quid and you get a parts warranty backed by vw.
