Just bought a 1998 mk3 Cabrio and took it for a service to be told My 15" Alloys are not right  the rear wheels have spacers so no probs there but the front ones are too small (the centre hole that fits the hub is slightly too small) thus meaning the garage had to do the wheels ridiculously tight to get them to fit and i would have no chance of getting them off , any suggestions or information would be great as its my 1st venture into Golf world and i have never come across this before
WIDGE

Sounds like the wrong alloys.
-
the rear alloys look the same as the front ones but the rear ones have spacers and the front ones dont.
can anyone say if the front ones need spacers and if so where can i get some????
cheers widge

do not use them as they do not fit... they are the wrong wheels for the car

Is there a plastic spacer ring (spigot) in the centre of the wheel where it bolts to the hub? if so remove and replace with the correct one,
or if its solid alloy then your best bet is to get it opened out to the correct diameter (57.1) or sell em and get new ones!,

hi,
i just took 1 of the rear alloys off and they are stamped gm.
we think these are vauxhall alloys  . so we are trying to get some vw alloys from some where.

Vauxhall center bore is smaller plus wrong offset so would be better to get the correct fit.
