Title: Temp sensor

Anyone know what temp the radiator fan should kick  in on a golf 1900 diesel?

the temp never gets past half way on the guage,(90 deg?) but thru the summer ive not heard the fans come on at all and im wondering if  the sensor is shot?

197F -- 92 deg ?

mine hardly ever come on unless i've been driving for ages or its really hot out.
