Assuming you are not having any accessories fitted or Lifeshine applied they should be able to bang it through the PDI in a couple of hours max (even less if they leave the suspension blocks in! ).

All depends how much other work they have got on, and if they have registered it.

They may well have access to the DVLA system now to register the car (saves them going and queing up at the PO or DVLA office) so this won't take long. Surely they are waiting until Sep 1st to register it?

Supaguard shouldn't take too long to do, can't guarantee that it will be applied with much love though.........

If it helps (and it won't unless you are buying from us), we allow 5 working days between car coming off the transporter and being handed over.

This is however a very busy time of year for us and in the last week we have had over thirty new cars delivered at my branch. Your salesman will hopefully keep you advised especially if you promise him top marks in the customer satisfaction survey.....

IIRC, main dealers can 'pre-register' with the DVLA, so that the official 'date of reg' can be a few days ahead.

VWmaindealer might be able to confirm though.

By the sounds of some of the feedback . . . . about 30 minutes . . . .  :lipsrsealed:

Yes, most dealers will have AFRL (Automated First Registration and Licencing). This means you can indeed part register a new car before the actual reg date. You can even register them a few days before hand. (We've already registered all of our 59 plates for the 1st). This avoids potential problems if the computers etc are down on the day.

This is why the dealer will be chasing you for insurance about a week before the car is due to be collected.

Was under the impression that ARFL can't be used for cherished numbers though?

When the stealer physically has their grubby mitts on your car, and are about to register it, they should fone you up, and give you a choice from their current block listing.

Hmm, I didn't get a choice with mine. I asked, but dealer said there was a range to choose from. Nvm, I'm sticking a private plate on it anyway.

Regarding choosing your number plate, what I think happens is that VW is issued with a list of number plates for all its new cars, depending on where you live.

For example, in my area the range is from SA59 *** to SJ59 ***. (now this list rotates as all of the SJ59's have been used and we are now back at SA59). VW dealerships in the whole of this area have access to a list of pre allocated registrations, you may have a chance to pick what you want from their list, but only when your car has arrived in the country.

If you have a good dealer, and ask them nicely, they may be able to put one aside for you.

Yep we know that bit regarding the area code, I put VW just as an example, I'm more worried about the NOB, TIT, FUD, ARS, COK, CUM letters etc at the end.

What I was meaning was that the last 3 letters are pre allocated to the VW dealers, so there is some choice if you get in first.
