Have succesfully used my Ipod Touch on a 310 stereo, obviously music only.

My iphone is completely compatible and integrated into my GTI.  I have retrofitted the Fiscon Bluetooth kit and have the Tomtom software on my iphone, the voice commands from the Tomtom get picked up by the bluetooth and come through the speakers too.

All of the music tracks are searchable from the headunit, I have a 510 but they also come through the 310.

It all works perfectly.

is that working through the std cables & charging, or through the bluetooth kit?

VW may well have updated it now with the latest Ipod docks but in my mk5 my 2nd gen Ipod touch doesn't charge.  IIRC apple changed the way the pins are wired internally in the latest models.  Plays fine though. An older nano plays and charges fine...

Is the Ipod dock still in the armrest?  Again this may be different in the mk6 but with the mk5 the armrest doesn't quite shut properly with the ipod touch (or presumably the iphone).

That's using the ipod lead supplied, phone charges through the lead.  Phone fits in the arm rest.

I've read on one of the forums that 2nd gen is now supported but I can't for the life of me find it now!!

However you could get yourself a charge converter if its not. I have one in my Mazda and does exactly what it says on the tin

I use it with a 2nd gen touch.

I couldn't find any in the UK but you might have better luck.
I ordered from here http://apsprostore.com/index.php?keyword=griffin&main_page=advanced_search_result&search_in_description=1 (http://apsprostore.com/index.php?keyword=griffin&main_page=advanced_search_result&search_in_description=1) and it only took a few days but surely someone will confirm if the 2nd gens are supported in the new golf.
