Hi guys, I want to do an oil change myself but never done one before, how easy/hard is it for a complete novice? and does the car need to be jacked up?

It's easy mate. The only issues that you may come across (but they are easily solved) is that the oil filter may be on tight. No problem if you have a strap wrench tho, or just stab a long screwdriver through it worse case. Although the latter is messy.
The car has to be jacked up for access to the draining nut on the sump. Unscrew it and let the oil out into a suitable container. Then remove the oil filter. Use a new washer on the sump plug.
add about 3.5 litres of oil and then start the car and let it get warm. Then once cold again, top up as neccesary. Do not overfill.

get the car hot first so the oil is thin!!!!

^^As above, much better to warm it 1st but not too hot or it will burn you.

my oil filter always seems to be baked on, wrapped a belt around it the last time to get it off, worked a treat
