was at no-rice with a couple of mates last night, one of them has a fire and ice g60, the other a b reg 8v with a g60 conversion.
dead posh guy there with a blue two tone mk2 reg plate "posh git" you may have seen him at the shows... he now has an S3 conversion sitting under the bonnet.. a challenge/discussion ensued and the I was following the fire and ice and the s3 mk2 up the A3......
kept up with them till about 130mph then thought better of it as picked up three points on friday morning.... :'(
Anyway, as they pulled away, the fire and ice was kicking arse and had about two car lengths and growing..........

Was it a Black mk2 with blue arches and bumpers? If so that's Richgit's. He hasn't got a S3 engine. it's from a Cupra R. Apparently it's ment to be running about 300bhp. Obviously it's not...

those clocks are causing him trouble dave, last time I saw him last night he was on the hard shoulder of the m25 about 11.30pm....... the clocks are shorting the ignition and keep stopping the car dead....

yeah Gav. he tells everyone it's a S3 engine, but it's really a Cupra R engine. No difference really, but the principle. ;)

So what's the main difference between the 2 dizze - both are 1.8 T's right??
S3 is about 230 bhp think .... Cupra R is about 200 ... or am I completely wrong ??

both came in 210 and 225 flavors afaik.
they're practically the same. It's just better pub bragging rights if it's from a S3 instead of a Cupra R really.
All the 1.8t 20v's are the same engines. There are a few minor differences though. the 150's and 180's have the k03 turbo. the later models having the k03 sport turbo (slightly larger/better) whereas the 210's and 225's have the larger k04 turbo. good for 270/280bhp. The TT lumps have better bottom ends so I've been told.
I could be completely wrong. this is just what I've heard and read.
Oh, the early 150 Golf engine with the AGU code has a large port head. Knightrider has fitted this to his car. Gives a bit more go when you start tuning it really. Best fitted to a TT bottom end I read.

His names Richgit, Hes doing the work to my car. From what i heard he took out the G60, The race continued to 150MPH. Hang on ill just check with him

The driver of the fire n ice was a total nutter apparetally, But i would of thaught as far as straight line driving the S3 Mk2 would of kicked the G60s ass.
Richgits car is a nice car tho, Its sorta how mine is shaping, But with different bits and mines all black, You have to respect the work thats gone into that car tho! 6 years in the making and faster than most.

apparently he's had 157 out of the G60, and I know it's not standard ;)
All I know is the fire and ice ws leading when I backed off, I guess you had to be there at the end to see it eh ;D
according to dizzy it's not actually an s3 at all, but a cupra... :-\

2) I didnt tell anyone it was an S3 lump, on more than one occasion i overheard others telling others that it was, but It's a 225bhp cupra r lump. Anyway, same thing, whats the deal?

4) That G60 was f**king quick, granted. He was pulling away from me, because he definitely had more balls than me in those corners. Im not writing that as in "oh yeah but if i pushed mine properly i would have sailed past him" trying to make up excuses, but yes, i was holding back because doign 130mph is quite an experience on a road im pretty unfamiliar with, and especially round corners when Im still unsure of how my car holds at such speeds.
As we got onto a long straight that I could see far ahead, i nailed it. We passed them at around 135 and went onto 145 before i came off for the m25 junction and back round again. These are all road angel readings so i know they were true values.
Oh, and the car isnt even set up on its 'proper' map yet, and would have been running about 240bhp as i was telling everyone. I said 300bhp in about 2 weeks when its going to Vince @ Stealth.

right, lets see if we can clear this up.
1) number plate. apologies, i thought it said poshgit, but I was very stoned ;D
2) I'm not callin you a liar, if you never said that fair enough, but you can understand when both myself and Dave were standing near you'r car and everybody was saying it was an S3 it's reasonable to think we might make that assumption ;) we stand corrected.
3) a sticky one. ;) based on the above assumptions, If i see I guy who has a pretty amazing spec car but is supposedly lying about the engine I think why? seems pointless when it's already pretty good, so naturally I though
"k n o b"
as it now seems you weren't saying that I retract my k n o b with an apology (leave it golfgal)
4) all i know is what I saw, granted the boy is a nutcase, but he was leading when I backed off, and he reckons he won. don't know him well, don't know you at all so probably best If i now reserve judgement until the next quarter mle day eh ;)

I have seen you a few times without the plates. Thats some speed you got, are you gonna get it into PVW?
I guess the Road Angel is a valuble piece of equipment too, I really need one but not sure what to go for.

In brief, 225bhp cupra r lump, Forge Intercooler, 6.5cm thick and as long as we could get it ;), DTA management system, Forge dual piston DV and a few other bits im probably forgetting.
Should get it in the 280-300bhp category, but i want to keep it reliable as its my daily driver too.

Sounds good to me, I am back to 299bhp I went to 400 and it went bang! I can't be doing with cars breaking all the time so am sticking with that now.
Your end up the same as our mk1 spinning in 5th gear in the dry and 6th in the wet. Are you runnning the 6 speed box?

?50 = 530 miles = Big Savings.

Unfortunately not, its a 5 speed mk3 16v box. Could do with the extra gear though!!!

In the mk1 it is a seat cupra engine like you but I also use the seat 6 speed box, wiring ecu etc..... It all came together, some nice person crashed there car for us to use ;D Even the head lights run off the seat wiring and what a diffeence they are lovely and bright!

Hey GavG60 ;D, next time your at the 1/4 mile take a look to your left...... you may find old smokey (minus 1/2 engine in boot+ice etc) ripping it up again, looking for early 15's this year.... ;D ;D ;D ;D

Saw rich gits car in the flesh today....Well as much in the flesh as a car can be. Its very nice, The motors impressive as well. I went there to drop off some parts for him to work on, And ended up getting sold a Twin webber carb too ?;D

I thought you said it was doing 300 miles on ?30 a while ago? or was that in a previous stage of mapping?
I've got the mk3 16v 'box on my 20vT aswell. Are you getting 1000rpm for every 20mph in 5th like me Richgit?

What diff u running? My standard Mk3 16v does 90mph at 4000rpm.

no idea dizzie, at 145mph im sure its around 6500rpm...
and g6dub - so how did you manage to fit the seat box? matt said soemthing about the driveshafts, did you have to get yours modified?

yes they are custom made drive shafts.
Still having probelms with the seat steering colum, it still is a bit long, don't have a good turning circle and it is not perfectly smooth on retuning, so that needs to be sorted.
I want to get a LSD (limited slip diff) to help with the spinning problems, also the car will have a new look for next year! as air is going so it needs somthing a little different

yeah he has. I've got throttle cable too, but then again I'm using the standard TT management.

The rear looks a lot better than it did down at inters. I was a little put off by the blue I must admit, I thought a little to OTT for a golf but hey each to their own you've made a good job of it rich even if it isn't to my tastes. What is more to my tastes though is what's sitting under the bonnet pwoooarrrgh ....NICE!
