The paddles were standard on the 2006 Model Year (MY) onwards but were optional before that so its possible your car doesn't have it.  On the plus side it is possible to retrofit them (and a MFSW) with varying degrees of difficulty depending on the part number of the steering wheel control module.

Its possible to have the paddles but not the MFSW as well.

Good luck

'Fraid not.  Mine is a 2007 MY, and both the paddles AND MFSW had to be ordered as options.  AFAIK, the paddles only seemed to be standard from 2007.5 MY.

Nope, I think the ub7rm is spot on as mine, a MY2006, came with the paddles as standard.

Actually, their sales staff really were top notch, and unfaultable - but their 'aftersales' was truely shocking.  But if the b'stards ripped me off with the paddles - then I won't be too happy!

Just been looking at a Golf price brochure that was effective from 1 June 2006.

It clearly states in fine print at the  bottom of the factory fitted options page "Paddle shift steering wheel without multifunctional controls is standard on GTI models with DSG gearbox".

mines 2007 MY and mine were standard.  I hardly use them, living in London, they are good but not a must have in my opinion.

Mine was registered in July 07 and the sales voucher states £336-17 for MFSW incl. paddle shift, so maybe they were std but the MFSW was an expensive option?

The old price in my brochure for the MFSW for a dsg car was £405 inc vat.

Mine was ex VAT, so that would make sense. It doesn't clear up if the paddles were std though??
