Title: NEWBIE FROM THE WEST MIDS

Just thought id say hi, My names john and from the midlands, ive only just come across this site and as im going to be getting a mrk 4 golf pretty soon thought id join and get some pointers for when i come to buy my golf. Just wanted to know is there anything obvious to look out for on the mrk 4's and also is the 1.8 or the 2.0 the better engine of the gti.

welcome to the site  :cool:

1.8t is the best option (more tunable etc) not too many things to look out for blown turbo's make sure the water pump/cambelts been changed. ask about in the mk4 section and you'll find all you need  :smiley:

Cheers for the nice welcome, ive been looking for a 1.8T but tbf there are nil of them by me so looks like ill be getting an normal aspirated lump for the time being but peeps on ere seem to tell me to go for the 1.8 over the 2.0 and there even quicker then the 2.0???

1.8 is a lot better than the 2.0
