Title: audi engines

now is it true that the 2.0 l audi 4 cylinder engine (as in the audi 80) is the same base as mk 3 golf wondering as i wish to do the conversion on my mk1 on does anyone know if it came carbed? ???
read somewhere that the conversion was kinda simple diesel drive shafts oand it should bolt in is this true?

The 8 valve Audi engine is the same 115bhp unit as the MK3 and MK4 Golf engine. It's also used in the Skoda Octavia, Superb and Fabia.
I don't think it was ever used with a carb as the Audi 80 2.0E was injected (but don't quote me on that). The earlier 80 was available with carb (1.8S) or injection (1.8E) which was the Golf MK2 GTI engine.
The guy I sold my MK1 Golf GX to fitted the 2.0 115bhp from a Passat.

It was the old shape Passat cos he did it about 9 years ago. Still the same engine though.
