Title: MK3 1.8 8v GTi Noisey Gearbox

Hi all! The 'box on my GTi is very noisey in 1st & 2nd & very tempermental when trying to engage 2nd. Is this typical of a knackered 'box & would it be worth checking/topping up the fluid?

Hi,welcome to the site, yes check the gearbox oil but check the linkages too as the noise may be unrelated wheel bearing etc.

always worth changing the transmission oil before doing anything drastic!

Sounds like you need another box to be honest.
