As promised, we had ourselves a wee race, and there wasn't much in it
appologies for the shoddy camera work, its not easy getting a steady shot at 130 mph

-
Mines standard god knows wots been done to his its a bloody pocket rocket 8V :P ;D
-
well, his valver has a full stainles magnex system, standard other than that
mine has a full induction kit and full magnex system.
but we suspect mine has something else too, i dont know what maybe a high lift cam or something.
im waiting for a reply form the previous owner
cos surely my little 8v shouldnt be inching away form a valver at 120 mph
(http://www.phillhetherington.com/his.jpg)heres his valver

-
YEAH COOL 8V GO! GO! GO! 8)
-

-
im lost is the 8v the black golf that was in front. r the 1 bhind it. cus at the end of the vid the speedo is only clocked to 120 on that car and that would b 8v clocks. u say inching away but the black was always in front
-
I like the way you have no petrol. Is that for weight saving? ;D
-
yeah the black 16v was infront most of the way,
trying to film a car thats behind you at 130 mph isnt terribly safe
-
TREMENDOUS... close one!!! i need a h, h, h, hideaway!!!!!! 8)
-
In the video it's all on open dual carriageway, just where a valver can really stretch it's legs and get at all that extra high revving power over the 8v, in standard trim the valver got an extra 10mph top speed and so should have been going away from you !?! Being that close I can only assume that either your 8v is not standard or your mates 16v is not in the best state of tune.
Did you also get to get to go head to head on slower roads, and also off the lights as most of the 16v owners on this site seem to think a valver is a good second quicker to 60mph, even though the vw figures quotes 8.3 and 7.9 respectively??
-
thing is.. neither are stock..
both have magnex exhausts.. and the 8v has an induction kit
-
Nah theres nothin wrong with my 16valver its not long been tuned by a Vdub specialist, who said its the best valver hes seen for a while. So that just leaves the modified 8V . . . . . . ?
-
Has the 8v been tuned since having the induction kit fitted?
-
mayb the 8v is a quick 8v and well looked after engine. id say mine would give a 16v a run for its money. something ive always wanted to do
-
I ran a 16V from a standing start, He had 19s and a nackerd tranny, I was ahead of him off the line and feeling all good about my self, Untill i hit about 40 - 50MPH and watched him fly past and head off into the distance :-\
-
Absolute quality mate. ;D
-
can I add mine in for the 20v in a mk2 fight ;D
-
can I add mine in for the 20v in a mk2 fight ;D
Alright Dizzie, but just as long as you remove the turbo and just stick to the 20v's ;)
-
