Title: Do I need a new Intercooler
Post by: GregR on 17 August 2009, 22:56
Ok,

Just looked at my intercooler and its shot to pieces. I can't really see any day light through it. Do you guys have the same problems with yours? Do you recommend that I get it changed or is it ok as it is? What are the benefits to getting it change as to leaving it as it is?

I assume if the engine was overheating the fan would come on which it has yet to do. The car very quickly warms up to the 90*c in the engine coolant dial (the one on the left). Is it normal that the engine stays warm for a while after? Sorry I've not had a petrol for AGGEEEEEESSSS!

Thanks

Greg

Your intercooler is jammed between your aircon and radiator I think, you sure you aint just got a few stone dent's in the aircon rad? If you had a hole in your IC your car wouldn't be pulling very well as you would have a major boost leak!

TC back from the dead !!? Are thoese LMs I see? Good man ;)

I assume you have taken it out to see through it? Im also guessing its still out? If it is, give it a good clean with a jet washer to get any muck and grime out of it. Does the car feel any different? Pull any less?

I think he must mean his Rad, there is no way you would take your IC off for a clean and a check it. (http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm104/tomashandmilly/Daft%20stuff/wow1.gif)

I don't know what 'radiator' it is but it the radiator thats at the very bottom nearest teh ground. It uses the bumper grille underneath the number plate to for its air path. is this the aircon radiator, would this explain why my aircon isn't working?!

Suggest you take a photo and post it on here - very difficult to diagnose something if none of us know exactly what's what!

When you say it's shot, it it blocked with cr@p or are the fins bent due to stones / debris coming into contact with it?
