Title: Deal drivers
Post by: keelaw on 17 August 2009, 22:39

I got my car via deal drivers and basically had to do next to nothing to secure a £2k discount.  apart from sending 2 e-mails to deal drivers, the rest of my time has been entirely spent dealing with a VW dealer.

The way it works is that they are a broker and put you in touch with the fleet dept in a VW dealer.  all been plain sailing so far.

Anyway, why all this promotion?  Well, honestly put they're offering £25 for me and £25 to any future punter who I refer.  So PM me and get a further £25 off your car, why not eh?

I spoke to DealDrivers on the phone and was very favourably impressed.  If it hadn't been that one of my local dealers took a long hard look at the DealDrivers price and came down to within spitting distance of it, I'd have gone with them too.

(That is, if I'd got in before they posted that all their slots for customers looking for a scrappage deal were filled.)

Same as Rolfe,

Couldn't get the scrappage deal, but local dealer came reasonably close, (he knew I would walk away if he didn't come close) plus got the scrappage.

I walked away from 2 dealers and neither came anywhere near close.

Perhaps they had met their quotas already who knows.

The problem with dealdrivers at the moment is

12th August update
* Golf GTI build slots for our VW dealers is now full. Unless VW UK can provide more allocation in the next few weeks, our dealers are unable to place orders until after 1st Sept 09, meaning the cars will incur the 1/9/09 VW price increase and MAY possibly also incur the 1/1/10 VAT increase. Please ask for advice.

If they had still been doing the 9.07% off (worked out with inc 12 months tax rather than 6 stated on the site) and had availability I would have delt with them myself.

I got approx 11.31% discount (including scrappage) from local dealer. For info, a quote today from 'drive the deal' for same spec'd car as mine only offered £489 discount.

The answer to the questions we need to know is:
WHO has allocation left before September 1st
WHO can deliver before 1 jan 2010
and The most important bit WHO is still willing to give a decent deal?
