I was trying to fit my JVC KD-AVX2 head unit into the Mk3 GTi, but there are a few too many wires on the back of the unit that seem to be jamming up at the back and stopping the unit from sitting flush.
Is the plastic in the back of the bay anything important, or could I cut it away to make room? It's rather frustrating, as I am currently stuck with a badly battered Sony that came with the car and skips every few seconds :/

just remove the glovebox
you can then pull all the cables over to one side to allow the unit to fit nicely

I sometimes tie some string or somethin around the wires and feed it through a gap in the dash. Then pull the string as u slide the headunit in place

Cheers. Tried removing the glove box in the end. Is still a bit tight, and not entirely sure I can get it out again if I need to. But it kinda works, although loses power whenever the ignition is off. Will work out where to get some power from in the morning :)

you need to sway the red and yellow round on the jvc loom that will solve that problem

Yeah, I found the little box at the bottom of the instructions tha tsaid I had to swap some wires :D Cheers tho.
