As above, looking to get a new gaitor as i don't really like the stock one, would one fit?
Looking at these: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Gear-shift-knob-gaitor-for-VW-Golf-Jetta-MK4-Bora_W0QQitemZ180385777946QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item29ffd4891a&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
Which look kinda nice & seeing some guys over in the MK4 forum have them. :)

GTiAdam got a MK4 gaitor on, I don't think it was that bad for him either, it was the gear knob that was the worst.

It does fit you just need to mod it slightly. The mk4s throw is shorter then the mk3s so the gaiter will pop off when you select 4th gear.
The MK4 knob clips on to the shaft where as the MK3 screws onto the shaft. Get a drill bit a few mm smaller than the mk3s shaft and drill inside the MK4 gearknob. Then screw it onto the shaft. Job done

OK thanks, i'd rather have one that pops straight in tho (lazy)
I just bought this gaitor for my red MK3, think it'll look rather nice. :)

I got one off the bay did a bit of chopping, Got some hard wire and molded it to fit around the mk3 base then stitched the gaitor to it and you can now stretch it and take it on and off like the original part

This mod is one of those really subtle mods, but adds a fresh feel to the inside of the car :)
