Title: 12V dash socket not working

I've just noticed my 'cigarette lighter' socket next to the gear lever in my 06 GTi is not working and have searched for help on this already but not come up with much.

Can anyone please advise what I should check, and how to dismantle the dash to get to the socket to check the connections. I'll check the fuse tonight (but the socket in the boot works...) although I'm not sure where the fuse is located yet.

All help much appreciated.

It was a fuse when it happened to me.

Check your Handbook to see which fuses do what.

Think the one in the boot is on a different fuse.

Thanks for the help. It was indeed the fuse, or rather lack of it! I've put a 25A fuse in and all sorted now. It was fuse #24 from memory.

....Hmm...I wonder if it's photof*cket using the larger jpg because the title of the new smaller file isn't different enough. I'll try changing that.

EDIT: Sh!t!! Still hasn't worked! I'll keep trying different things - It's photf*cket because the image resizes as it should in Photoshop.

EDIT: After I click "Change Profile" in your software is when it reloads as 1022 x 292 irrespective of my uploaded file size. Not much I can do about that.

Post by: topher on 14 August 2009, 15:48: the forum software just adds the original pixel size to the tags - if you paste the url for the img and look at the properties it's still 1022x292.. it's deffo photobucket doing something strange there!
