Title: VR6 into cabby?
Post by: deanpompey on 11 August 2009, 00:21
ok so as per title thats what im gonna be doing, have full vr6 donor, and a nice mk1.

so...what do i need to consider?
where do i need to strenghten?
can i convert to vr6 hubs/brakes?
do i use mk3 or mk1 subframe?
mk3 engine mounts welded onto mk1?

any info you feel would be useful really!

cheers guys!

I believe you need to modify the bulkhead, a few different ways of doing it, worth bearing in mind it is a heavy old lump in a mk1 and can mess with the handling.

yeah i know, thats why i am puting it into a cabby instead fo a tin top, cabbys have more weight down sides and rear, so with a few bits of strengthening and relocation should be able to get it handling ok.
iv driven vauxhall corsas with 3l v6 cav lumps in which is same sort of scenario, just needs extra attention to suspension, bracing, brakes etc to sort handling.

any more info on whats required to bulkhead?
