Right, I have got too see most the colours on the mk6 GTI now (excluding blue graphite) and have ruled alot of them out due to personal taste but im stuck and keep going back and forth between two colours and i HAVE to make my mind up sharpish. So im here to ask the experts.
I keep thinking shadow blue or reflex silver arrrrrrrr im hopless. :undecided:
Mk6 GTI it will be a 5 door with 18s and xenons.
Help me decide please what colour as i keep changing my mind and from experience i make the wrong choices.

I like both colours (having owned 2 cars previously in similar colours)
specifically for the mk6 gti I've seen it in silver in the metal and it looked really good. quite a futuristic feeling - will be even more so with xenons :) goes well with the alloys too.
the blue looks very nice, tho the pics below are perhaps overly shiny to make a fair judgement on it. also i think it's less of a GTI colour and more an R32 colour!
if you pushed me , I'd go silver.

have you seen this? http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=123179.0
You could maybe persuade your dealer to order you one in a euro spec colour if you're really struggling to decide. If the sale is dependent on the colour choice the dealer may be quite accommodating!

i will NEVER have a silver car again . Go blue

care to share?

I've had four met blue cars...so usually a big fan. Not so sure with this one so tempted to suggest Silver but there are just too many silver/grey cars around...have you been to a BMW dealer forecourt recently?
-
1, what /\ /\ - sooooooooo common these days.
2. NEVER happy with the FINISH even after a proper valet, just dont get the SHINE as you do with other colours
-
got to be the Blue
-
I don't care for either colour, but IF they were the only 2 available, it would have to be silver. I had a Shadow Blue Golf PLus and a silver Eos and didn't really like either, but the Shadow Blue is particularly dull, IMHO.
-
i prefer the reflex silver but i would as that is what i bought on thursday cant wait to pick it up next friday
-
With those pics I would say the silver... but in all honesty the blue will look better in the flesh.

Hmm, I'm really not so sure. Shadow blue looks quite good in the sun (gives it kind of an electric blue tint), but to be perfectly honest, most of the time it's a pretty dull colour. Here's a picture of my Golf Plus in Shadow Blue. I know the Plus is boring to begin with, but the picture is a fairly accurate rendering of the colour:

I got to see a shadow blue one pre-PDI at the local vw dealer today and im non the wiser for it.

Personally I would have it in Silver if the only choice was between those 2 colours.
I know you said not to say it, but what about a White or Red car, taking it back to one of the original GTi colours...?
I've seen both of those colours in the flash and they look absolutely fantastic on the Mk6 GTi.
-
Im a huge bore when it comes to GTI history especially when its the beloved mk1, Its not well known that the two original GTI colours in 1976 were Senegal Red and Diamond Silver. White became available in 1978 but only in Germany. Im a sad git when it comes to the mk1
I have seen all the colours on mk6 GTIs in the flesh except graphite blue.
Red i ruled out as my father was a fireman everytime i see bright red i think fire engine so not for me.
White i like from a distance but close up im not a fan at all.
Black is too hard to look after.
Steel gray blend in far too well with the road surface colour round here the amount of times i have seen near misses when cars are that colour.
Carbon Gray is totally different to every photo i have seen its very metallic more or less anthrosite(sp?) colour in some lights less gray more like black. In the end its gray or black in colour so ruled out as above.
That left me with the reflex silver or shadow blue.
-
I voted for Silver.
I wouldnt pick either of those colours given the choice though. But its still a GTI and it will look the dogs danglies regardless of colour.

Good job you don't live in Germany, I don't think you'd ever get to see all the colours they get :) My carbon grey (anthracite) was parked next to a black TDI on delivery day and the two colours look very different when you see them together.
-
the blue looks very dull
-
My wife wanted ours in silver and I wasn't sure on the choice but now we have it.........looks fantastic. Go for the silver, it really suits the car and where silver has been so over done over the last decade now people are choosing other colours and actually silver is becoming less of a common sight in brand new cars especially the GTI.
-
I'm sorry but I don't think either colour suits the GTI but if it was down to them being the only 2 colours available I'd go for silver, that blue is defo not a GTI colour.
I know this will probably upset a few of you but imo the only colours in the UK specs for me are Black (obviously cos I chose it) red or white.
Sorry but we are all allowed our personal opinions.

I saw a Shadow Blue car (not a Golf) at the dealer's, and it wasn't especially clean and it was a dull day. It seemed very dark, and I'd much have preferred a lighter shade.
But having said that, I'd go for it over any shade of grey/silver any day. There are just so many grey cars on the road. Maybe it's popular because lots of people like it but to me it's dead boring.
I went for Blue Graphite because the colour is more subtle than the basic navy of the Shadow Blue, though I suspect it will suffer from the same problem of looking dark in dull weather.
Grey/silver - sorry, just too common
Black - just a darker shade of grey
White - sure, if you wash it for me every day!
Red - too much in-your-face, and the red stripes on the nose are lost
So it had to be one of the blues, and I went for the more subtle one. But they're both too dark, in my opinion.
Having said that, I've never seen a Blue Graphite car, in sun or rain.
Rolfe.
-
Black - just a darker shade of grey
Rolfe.
then it would still be grey and not black!!
-
No no no Black is not a darker shade of grey!! that is where carbon grey comes in, which in all honesty should probly be called charcoal. Those are greys along with steel grey but black is just what it says on the tin, BLACK and contrary to many opinions on here, and that is what they are just opinions the GTI looks remarkable in the black and it doesn't matter whether you spend hours cleaning it with every potion under the sun, I've had mine almost 2 weeks and it hasn't been washed once, apart from it being rained on and yeah, it looks fine, with a nice glossy shine.

Well, my opinions on black are based on my own personal experience, having owned 3 black cars in the last 10 years. All I can tell you is that in the winter, they are nearly impossible to keep clean. This goes for other colours, of course, but applies to black in particular, IMHO. And then we have the question of swirl marks...

I had a shadow blue Passat and that looked alright but I didn't like it on the Mk5 Golf. Out of the two for the Mk6 it has to be silver. It just highlights the dark grille/headlamps better. I saw a GTD in silver with the optional 18's and it looked great.
Having said that I think those who have ordered blue graphite will be happy with their choice. I saw a Mk5 in this colour at the weekend and in the sun the blue sat well with the red stripe grill.
