Maybe some of you know this already, but I just discovered that by holding the unlock button down on the key, all 4 side windows open :) This is a really useful feature in hot weather (like we've got in France at the moment) and I've only been able to do this previously on the BMWs I've owned. Well done, VW - a cheap, but very useful addition to the list of gadgets :)

I came across this site that has MK5 secrets. I wonder if they work for MK6?

yeah i found this out in my mk5, parked up in work clicked to lock and flippin windows opened, trouble is i didnt notice and someone from work phoned me to tell me by this time i was 300 miles away, had to get me ol' man to go down to work with the spare set to sort! werent pleased!
my mk2 doesnt do this and its a good day if the windows open at all! :grin:

i had a mk3 tdi that did this with the key in the lock, very good feature :smiley: our jetta does this but our old mk4 didnt

dan_apps, If you had your key on you, you could have called someone at work; if you point your key into your mobile and they hold their phone near your car you could have save your dad a trip! :wink: I bet everyone is going to try this tonight, worked on my mk5!

suggest it is an urban legend but I'm sure with certain car systems it can be done.

Isn't there something similar about holding the keyfob up to your head to increase the range or if the battery is failing?

I think the whole holding it to your head works because you put it more in the line of sight of the infa red receiver, thus giving it more chance of working, rather than using brain power lol

Something to do with metal filings I believe, and I have actually seen it work using a keyfob with knackered batterys that wouldn't turn on the alarm unless pointed at my mates mouth that was full of fillings :grin: :grin: :grin:

Putting the fob to your head amplifies the signal by using your skull like a parabolic satellite dish :)

I've done that bleeping the key down the phone and can confirm it works.
