Title: GTi 200 to Edition 30?
Post by: chungE on 08 August 2009, 02:07
Hi everyone, I'm new to the forums and did a couple of searches that didn't really give me an answer to my question.
Iv found recently on autotrader a gti(08) and ed30(07) for approx the same price and iv managed to get some insurance quotes for under £1k, im 24 with almost 3 yrs ncb.
Has anyone gone from a gti to ed30? What is the difference in ownership costs for both?
I'd obviously like to get an ed30 but think it would be more sensible for me to get a gti.

ive had 2 GTi's, and an edition 30. Same running costs, bigger smile in edition 30

I've driven both and own an Edition 30.

If you are looking at keeping the car stock I'd still recommend the ED30, but if you are thinking about remapping/modifying the car then the Edition 30 is the must have at all costs car

Thanks for replies.
Id be going from a Peugeot 206 1.4 to the ed30 :D.
Hopefully will be able to get a good deal from the dealers!
Is it recommended to use V-Power? And how much is it costing you at the mo for a full tank of petrol?

V-power all the way. It can be a bit pricey at 107.9 (normally around 7p more than the advertised standard unleaded). Based on the tank being 55 litres it would cost around £59 to fill up.

As stated above, very little difference in running costs.  My insurance stayed the same and mpg was only marginally worse.

My preference would be the ED 30 having owned both for a year.

I found Tesco 99 very good in the ED 30 and also VPower now and again.  IMO it is worth using the higher RON fuel in the GTI engines.

Let us know how you get on

Also, the Ed. 30 will hold it's money a LOT better than the GTi.  They maybe the same price now, but in 2/3 years time, the Ed 30 will be worth a good few £k more.  :)
