Ive just fitted some coilovers on my mk3 Gti and when turning if I hit a bump the front wheels seem to rub somewhere?? I cant see where though, Could it be the plastic wheel arch trims? Is it poss to trim it?
Any idea's??
Thanks

Wayne had to trim his, he will be here in abit.
how low and what size are your wheels?
-
first off what wheels are they? and whats the offset? and yes you can have the inner arch bits trimmed and rolled
-
You should be able to see on the tyres if its catching and also if you feel on the inside of the arch you should be able to feel it aswell.

Its about 60mm/70mm Im running 205/40/17's and the wheels have a offset of ET35

Yours is the same drop and spec wheels I was running, I ha issues with fron and rear arches, you cannot really trim the plastic arch back as it leaves you with nothing to mount it back on with, in the end removed the arches.
I lived with it to be honest.

I did looooads of arch mods to get mine low. Was approximately 110mm in the end, on 17's

Wheels rubbing. Welcome to the scene and car modifying. Lol
-
Think Im just going to live with it
-
If it aint rubbing, it aint dubbing.
-
Do many of you guys have issues with rubbing?
you can see its made a slight amark on the edge of my brand new front tyres - is it safe?
-
Most low cars have an issue with rubbing, if its constantly rubbing then i would sort it out. If its only occasionally then i would be tempted my self to leave it.

+1 I left mine as it only rubbed now and again, if it is rubbing all the time, I would sort asap.

Its only the drivers side front that rubs if I go over a bump - (even a man hole cover!) so itnt all the time
Cant understand why its only the drivers side though? Ive measured both sides and they are the same, the tyres are the same size and the off set on the wheels is ET35.
Now have a running issue  (see other thread!!)
-
You sit on the drivers side :p and unfortunatly you weigh something. Lol

LOL true - and I am nearly 18 stone :embarassed:
maybe if I get my wife to take it out asshe is lighter than me and see if it does it with her?

Check you have the coilovers set the same as mine always sat lower on one side.
