Title: is ma new golf gti 8v good value for money?
Post by: wee-golfer on 05 August 2009, 15:54
I got this golf gto the other day for 700 quid with 11 months mot and 2 month tax. had a  problem with oil leaking into the thottle body at first but this is all solved now. just need front pads and a silencer. Its been lowered 40mm backbox and thats it. wot else can i do 2 make it a bit faster considering im on a budget? is this about the going price for a n 8v gti? Does anyone know the colour code of it? aslo think i mite need front bushes or sumthing car feels really light and quite wobbley wen goin in to a corner. a lot of steering angle and correction is needed and just doesnt feel right, wot cud this be?

Nothing wrong with a 8v, much better than a 16v but not as good as a Vr6  :grin:

Handling issues will be down to the standard susp.

And so it begins :laugh:

PS,
16v = small thingy
VR6 = always playing with thingy
MK2 = Not seen thingy for years

haha, this just goes with the MK3 section.
Nowt wrong with the 8v..........
Handling is not that crisp with Mk3 but if it is realy cack then have a look at your suspension in general it may need some new rubbers etc.
Have a look on BB's site this will give you colour details etc.
Happy Tugging :grin:

the birds about 2 pop out a sprog so she didnt like the idea of an older mk2. painted the grill coz wen i bought it, it had a red stripe in the grill and looked daft so a 5ver of paint and laquer did the job. looks 10 times better.

ahem...excuse me for a moment there i thought i was reading yet another 8v verses 16v debate ...oh i am  :rolleyes:

i to drive an 8v for 1 reason and 1 reason only....i couldnt afford a vr or 16v....simple

but i do also have a mk2 gti 8v and it pisses over the mk3 8v by a long shot and will out run a mk3 16v until i hit 4th gear.

there aint no gti like a mk2 gti.....fact
