Im guessing all mk3 pollen filters are the same,? ( Mine doesnt have aircon )
can Anyone tell me if they have bought the genuine filter from a vw dealer and how much it was?
Cheers!

Unless it is physically damaged or torn I would just give it a good clean, bang it on the ground a few times till all the sh*t is gone.

Where about is the Pollen filter located...wanna give mine a clean but never actually looked for it...lol

Under the scuttle panel, cheap new and always worth fitting a new one.

Cheers! Gonna pop down for one today, Mine was soaking wet due to the scuttle drain hole blockage problem, which is now sorted.
I dont think its worth drying them out or reusing them as they get smelly and it makes the blowers smell! plus for the price its daft not too especially when you alredy have the covers off to do them!

Point taken although I have to say mine was/is bone dry, doesnt smell and works fine after a good thump plus I bought a couple of pints with my£6+vat

I wish i had taken a picture of mine It was disgusting!
Wet, smelly , full of leaves.
The fan is about 70% stronger now, might actually de-mist the windows! so im happy :)

Mine was black when I changed mine, and leaves...even a dead spider LMAO! After that there were no funky smells coming through the heaters anymore. Cheap and simple to do :)

Hi, im a newbie on here, so hi all, just been reading this post, iv a 97 preg TDI and my blower is really crap as in air vents and screen, but the fan itself does sound quite powerful, wasnt sure if the ducting has come off etc, but after reading your replys could it not be blowing as strong because my pollen filter is blocked, cheers and thanks in advance

Sounds like same problem as mine had, they get covered with leaves and crap which can really restrict airflow, VW say to change them about ever 20k or so, so its worth doing.
If the water drainage holes get clogged up like mine did they can also get damp and they get worse, plus smell bad, and even worse if the water builds up so high it comes inside the car :(
The plastic scuttle panel cover is fiddly and can get brittle with age so be carefull when taking it off to get to the filter...
