Going by previous experiences on all variants of the Dunlop ShyteMaxx, I would avoid. There are much better boots available.  The difference between the original ShyteMaxx and some Mich PS2s is literally night and day!

IIRC, I think PhilMcavity has the SportMaxx TTs, but I don't think he is particularly 'hard' on his tyres, and from chatting to him at Inters, seems happy with them, but if you are a 'hard' or demanding user, I would still avoid.

I have also tried their so-called top-spec - the SportMaxx GT - on the new RS6 - and they really were NOT up to the job.  But bear in mind the RS6 is a 3rd of a tonne heavier than the GTI, and has mooohassive front discs with 8-pot Brembos!

Mich PS2 gets my vote any day!  Even on my mighty RS4, they are well up to the job!

Hi shaun

My only gripe is the Dunlops although wear and handle well enough, the tire noise is my biggest gripe, and when then run out along with the earlier Dunlops that are on, will be looking at another Brands.

At the Time £80 a corner, i couldnt refuse.

Hi shaun

Hey up - good to finally meet you at Inters. :afro:  Shame I couldn't have a proper listen to your noise prob.  Maybe you can record a sound clip or sommat, and host it on Photobucket.

My only gripe is the Dunlops although wear and handle well enough, the tire noise is my biggest gripe, and when then run out along with the earlier Dunlops that are on, will be looking at another Brands.

I forgot about the noise issue.  So are your current SportMaxx TTs also noisey?

Strewth, they were cheap!   But I suppose the free lunch saying still comes in to play though!

.

Ive had noisey tyres more since i had to swop the tyres from front to back trying to sort out a wheel/balance issue after my alloys were powdercoated.
Its more likely that the tyres are wearing uneven now and making them more noisey then before.
Time to try a different brand away from Dunlop or Bridgestone, as all my GTi's have had them previously.
