K just bought a mk2 golf fer a steal at the auctions. Only prob is the passenger door is permanently locked and dinted to buggery.
I gorra door easy enough to replace it, but any thoughts on getting the old one off....... without damaging the trim, cos i need it to put on the new door.
-
If you dont need the door anymore, then just hack through the door around the outer handle and disable the lock
-
yeah ? thought there might be an easier way
ah well guess its big hammer time ;D
could always pretend its the ex wifes face lol
-
eeeeeeh just thought .........
is it easy to connect up the central locking ???
-
Depends what is preventing the central locking from working.
Never tried it before with the door closed, but just how far can you get with removing the trim............is it not possible to pull it back enough to get at the mechanism?
Bit drastic having to get a tin opener to the door skin
*I have visions of SH11PS door skin damage horrifyingly ingrained in my brain :o*

^ i'd second the getting in through the door trim route.. even if u do tear that.. its cheaper than a new door :)
-
i dont understand how it can be permanently locked?
surely you should be able to unlock it from the inside
are you sure its just not jammed shut? hold the inner handle open and hit it a good boot
-
cut the f**kker out.....its more fun that way ;D

Well tis done :) managed to lever the trim and get into the lock. sooooo new door on and old trim saved and fitted. Looks grand. Thanks fer the advice peeps. Right next job ....
