im looking at a golf gti and it a 1.8 8v – Superchiped could anyone tell me is this fast or just get a 16v?

16v will be faster.

16v will be quite a lot faster , and more rewarding to tune

8v will not be as fast but I think they are a better / smoother drive, the choice is yours.
