Hi,
I have an intermittent starting problem on my GT TDI. A lot of the time, and its getting more and more, the when turning the ignition key the glow plug light does not illuminate and thererfore the car will not start. Searching around the internet a post seems to suggest that the glow plug relay is at fault on early cars (mine is a 99/S) and to change relay number 109. Has anyone else encountered this and could someone tell me where this relay is located and if possible the part number. Thanks

Did you ever solve your starting problem?
I have a 96 TDI that occasionally will not start when warm.
I can always tell when it is not going to start because the glow plug light does not illuminate, albeit for a millisecond.
After waiting a few minutes or repeatedly turning the ignition on and off, the glow plug lights up and it starts up.
Any help you could pass on would be greatly appreciated.
