Title: wheel bearing change

Hi all, I need to change both my front wheel bearings.I just wondered if its a garage job or is it possible to do it myself??.I have done the rears just the fronts to do now. Any help would be good

As DIY jobs go mate, I rate it only slightly more difficult than wiping dead flies off the headlights.  :wink:

Fronts are difficult, probably impossible in most cases, without a press.
Best bet is to strip the hubs off yourself and take them to a garage.

You can do it in an extremely large vice, but unless you know what you are doing, I would not recommend it.

cheers lads,Im ok with stripping them off etc.I might aswell put new disc and pads on while im there,But just wasn't sure about the bearing. definatley got to change them as one of them is sounding a bit rough,thanks for your help.

yeah if it was me i'd have both hubs off the car and pop into a local garage with new bearings in hand, should press em in & out for cheap :)

as above - take the hubs off and take them to be pressed -
i got charged £20 for one to be pressed in!!
dont really think it is worth it trying to press it in yourself... what happens if it aint in properly or straight, lol

mine are getting pressed in next week by a local engineering company for the grand sum of........................2 cans of beer! :shocked:

Bearings being pressed as we speak,All for the grand sum of a tenner.

I would have gladly paid more but wasn't gonna argue lol
