Hi, got a JVC cd player with no aux and no usb but it is linked to me amp and sub...was wondering can I add my itouch onto it acting as a hard drive? Seen loads of pics in mk4 section of headunits and wondered if I can do it and how???
-
if you wire it straight into your amp and use a audio switch you can run it through your amp and whatever speakers are connected to that eg 6x9's and sub OR get one of them FM connectors for the ipods and run it through a radio connection any decent ipod online store will have them.
-
the only way to do it is with an fm modulator which is pointless in my opinion you have a good quality digital source and you then convert it to an analogue fm signal therefore losing quality and they generally sound crap
just save up and get another h/u with an aux in or ipod control

Sorry not JVC was kenwood KDC-W7031 with a fli amp and sub?

that will work but will only give audio no control
you can buy a kenwood kca-ip500 ipod adapter it will charge it and you will be able to select folders and tracks but it will not display the album/artist names etc
-
Long as I turn volume up on itouch and then I can control it on the stereo for volume? It wont sound crap will it? Want it like CD quality?
-
if you get the kenwood ipod adapter it will be perfect sound quality
and having this unit means you do not need to have the ipod to hand
using a modulator will always sound crap
-
I ordered the cable now and which was only 6pound so no really a major crisis if it sounds rubbish-ish....how much is the adapter? Just fed up of cd's and need a hard drive instead in the car but people say I may as well get a different set up if I would go down that route?
-
See how you get on with the cable you bought and if you find it to be too annoying having to grab you itouch all the time then upgrade. Simples ;)
-
put the cable in and guess what NO SOUND! what has gone wrong?
-
The iPod is the only thing that is played in my car, I wouldn't ever bother with an FM modulator, converts digital to analogue which will ruin the quality. What was the cable you bought? Linkage if possible?

Have you made sure you've selected the source to be the CD changer input?
-
probably not knowing me will locate the manual
-
You should be able to change the source via the SRC button to the far right. That'll shuffle through the selections such as Radio/CD/iPod/Aux In.
Try that and see what happens :)
-
Nope nothing when I do that, tried that many a times, goes standby-tuner-compact player-standby...despite havng itouch plugged in and playing but yet again cd player doesnt want to know
-
I'm not sure but it should either say Auxiliary Input or along those lines. I found the manual for it, have a flick though and see what you can make of it.

Thanks, I printed it off and yes said press SRC or whatever and it should do it but also mentions other models so am thinking that I need an adapter or something in order to activate it? Oh well back to MP3's
-
Sorry buddy, the only thing I would assume is it's the wrong cable or a faulty cable, I dunno what else to suggest.
-
Thanks anyways but also noticed this cable

then i have a cable for the red and white lead to go into the headphone jack? 2-1

That could work, in theory it should.
