Title: Mk3 GTI 2.0 8v Outer CV joint replacement
Post by: moffatcam on 02 August 2009, 09:50
Hi. I'm trying to remove the outer cv joint from the hub. I've got the nut off but the splined shaft wont come out of the Hub. Do I need to use a puller to remove this and if I do will there be a special tool required to refit the slines in the Hub. the car is a late 1995 model with 5 bolt Hubs fitted.

According to the Haynes Manual this model doesn't use sealant on the Splines, hence the reason that I'm concerned that if I manage to get the CV joint removed with a puller that I'll have great difficulty refitting it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

I take it you have unbolted the bottom of the hub from the suspension so that it can swing farward?
