Title: Trim Clips
Post by: D-Line on 01 August 2009, 22:05
The exterior door trim clip won't keep the trim in the door of my new GTI MK3.

Can you tell me...

How much should I pay for MK3 door moulding trim clips?

and

Are they standard clips for MK3's, and if so can they be reused? (my mate has a 1.4 driver).

Cheers
D-Line

Forgot how much Mikester said they were.. but they're really cheap from VW so better off buying new ones.

They're really brittle and break easily though, so second hand ones wouldn't be worth bothering with to be honest.

Make sure you get the clips + grommets though.

GTI clips are different to the rest of the range as the mouldings are deeper.

You 100% sure about this? I used GL clips on my SE

Only going by what the VW guy told me, I know they have a different part number plus the CL / GL trim I had for mine had narrower clips.

Hi,

I changed the door trim clips on my 97 GTI. I got my parts from a proper Volkswagen garage and they wren't very expensive. I remember the bloke in the gargage telling me there were two different widths of strips depending what year your car was made, so measure the strip before you order them.
