Title: cone type filter mk2 8v k,jet...
Post by: fram on 01 September 2004, 18:05
hi guys
Had a search on the site and the info seems to suggest this cannot be done. What is the reason for this and is there any way round it? As I am fitting new panels to my car and I am a sheet metal worker I was going to do a custom airbox and vent, the box would be stainless and be completely sealed except for the vent in the bonnet (which would basically be the top of the box), anybody know how to get around the problem and fit a cone filter to the 8v k,jet or has anybody done this, advice would be greatly appreciated.
                                                  Thanks

you cant do this because of the metering head on top of the airbox, its is the heart of the mechanical injection system. you can however get a k+n panel filter and drill holes in the bottom and wing side of you airbox and run a cold air feed to it, this will  make a difference

now then lord fram ;D
hows things going?

If you look at the web site link below it shows you what you can do to fit a cone filter. I would try and make some thing your self rather than buy theirs as its a bit pricy for what it is.

Cheers Jim bob,
I take it the one I am supposed to be looking at is the one with the airbox lid and filter slung beneath it...mmm..interesting, I reckon I might be able to rustle something up ;). I get the car back either today or tomorrow, its now mechanically sound, and 35mm lower, so its cosmetics now, and some tuning, I will have to take it round to gingers, and you can have a look.
                                                        Cheers
