Title: RCD 510 upgrade - Can Bus requirement?

Hi there,

I am looking at upgrading my 05 GTi RCD300 to an RCD510, i understand in order to get the steering wheel functions and stop the battery draining i will need to upgrade my Can Bus interface from 1.6 to 2.0, does anyone know if VW sell this part or is it something i will need to sauce elsewhere? also any ideas on approx costs?

if you are replacing the factory unit with another factory unit you should not need a canbus adapter
does your car have steering controls already if not then it will not do steering control anyway
