Title: RATTLE FROM ENGINE

HELLO IM WONDERING IF ANYBODY CAN HELP ME I HAVE A TERRIBLE AFFLICTION. WHEN STARTING MY ENGINE FROM COLD I GET A RATTLING SOUND FROM THE ENGINE BAY. ALMOST LIKE AN OLD DIESEL SOUNDS. IT IS ONLY FOR A SECOND. IT ALSO CAN BE HEARD WHEN I INCREASE THE REVS FROM IDLE TO ABOUT 1500 WHEN THE ENGINE IS WARM. IS THIS NORMAL. OH BY THE WAY IT A 52 PLATE POSSIBLE A 180BHP MODEL.

When was your last service dude? What sort of miles has it done?
Do you know what oil is in it?

yes its a 180 ?:D
the startup rattle.. everyone gets this, don't worry about it. the other rattle, possibly heat shield on the cat ? if one of the welds breaks (as they quite often do) you'd hear a rattle at a certain rpm. 52 plate should still be under warranty so i'd take it back to vw to check that rattle ?;)

 HEY CHEERS FOR THE QUICK RESPONSE YOU CHAPS DONT HANG ABOUT ON THIS SITE, IM FEELING ALOT BETTER KNOWING THE RATTLES THE NORM. IM DUE A SERVICE THIS MONTH SO ILL GET IT CHECKED OUT, NICE ONE.
