Hic will be the best. They will just insure it as a vr. Shouldn't cost any more than any other vr.

You may need engineer report to get it covered.

Meaning an engineer will have to verify its safe on the road.

No it will not need to be re-reg, an engineers report is just needed to state the standard of work.

The insurance may be more as it is a conversion and not a factory car.

hate to say it but you sound like another dreamer thinking its a quick chop and change with instant bhp. its only worth doing if you are going to do the swap yourself otherwise its completly pointless and you should just buy a factory one.. if you are going to do it then as mikester said try HIC for insurance

As someone posted the other day, don't build what you can buy.

Point taken  your case is different however and it is worth changing your engine with all the other work that you have carried out.

Scrappage scheme that's why. Someone started a thread on Ed38 saying that the prices of VR6's has gone up, and that they've seen poor condition ones with no tax/mot for about 1600+

When I mentioned that I'm trying to sell my Highline for 1400-1500 quid in its current state, I was bombarded with PM's about it lol.
