Title: From start to finish?
Post by: buzzkip on 30 July 2009, 20:27
Good evening

I thought it would be a good idea for people to tell each other how they clean / detail their car from start to finish.

I would like to learn what the best order to do the bits and bobs too

SO who's first?

:nerd:

Hi iAMarshall,

I think you're going to get many different replies to this and could confuse you ( and the rest of us )

If all you want is to learn what to do,  can you let us know if you're going to be pollishing by machine or by hand ? and roughly what budget you've got for cleaning products... That way the info you get will be more relivant to you...

Even a list of what you've already got could help...

Well, if it includes all of the materials, tools / equipment.. then maybe £300 - £400.

"Well, if it includes all of the materials, tools / equipment.. then maybe £300 - £400."

Nice one m8, and apologies if this teaching granny to suck eggs !!!

The basics :

Wash ( 2 bucket method ) with a quality shampoo ( currently I use Megs SP+ but there's plenty of others )  Dodo Born To be Mild has some great reviews at the moment...

Clay - If you've never used this have a look here - http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=93439.0

Wash again...

Polish/or Glaze - now this all depends on how you're going to polish,  by hand or machine ( I've never used a machine myself,  but Guy on here is a wiz with it )

Then finally for protection,  you've got either waxes or sealants....  to learn more about this - http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/guides_protect.html

Another fantastic thread on here is - http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=66113.0
Well worth a read

Again I hope this is roughly what your looking for and sorry if not...
