Title: More alloy questions.....
Post by: Vesper on 30 July 2009, 17:44
Its about time my mk 3 got some decent wheels. Problem is I have no clue at all what I'm doing.

Currently I'm running on 4 stud steels. The tyre code is 175/70 R13 82T.

What the hell does 175/70 R13 82T relate to!? I assume one number relates to diameter of the wheel and one the depth. Does the stud size vary between cars or is that standard?

Basically I want to buy some alloys and bang em straight on without hassle. My golf is not lowered. Any suggestions?

I've got a load of possibles lined up that I like. Once I have a bit more of a clue what spec. I need I'll get on photoshop and get your opinions on the look

Bradley, as a mk3 guru    - do you know what the standard offset would be for my 96 CL? I'm looking at 16" alloys but I don't want to mess up the handling  :undecided: Would an ET of 38 be right?

et38-43 is perfect as for 16s you would want 205/45/r16

If running 16"s you can also run 215/40/16 or 195/45/16.
