When I got back from my round trip from Neath to Northampton yesterday - yes it was very very wet - I began hearing a rattle/burble noise from the engine. On investigation it seems to come from the alternator side and does not substantially increase with an increase in engine speed. Could it be squeaky bearings within my alternator?
Never had this before, but this is only the second long drive the car has had in 18 months.
Managed to do 360 miles on £45 worth of Tesco's finest. Mind you I was averaging only 60 :smug:
91 16v btw.

Check the lower pulley bolts?

hi best bet is to take the belt off and run the engine to check and spin the pullys to check the bearings
