i have checked fkuid and stuff and thats all fine and no it doesnt only do it on full lock it just does it when i turn the sterring wheel in any direction.
-
My Mk3 Gti used to do this when making tight slow turns. My thoughts at the time was possibly a wheel bearing fault, but then one day 2 yrs ago it just stopped and its not occured since.
-
yeah mine just stopped as well it must just be that commen faulty that the mk3 is ment to have lol

lol not common faults!!!!
anyway yeah the steering just sqeeks when i spin the wheel left or right its really annoying please tell me theres a fix!!!!!!
-
it could be the rack you could try looking at that, i was told to look at mine but it just stopped so i did not bother
-
what is there to look at on it though?
i think i might have a look at how much a new one would cost but i bet its gonna be really expensive!
-
thats all you could do is price it up unless you can get a second hand one
-
yeah, im going to see if i can pick one up anyway.
thanks alot for your help mate, top man!
oh and if anyone else can add to this subject please do

Bearings in the top mounts shot?

Let the poor little mouse out. You're upsetting him every time you turn that steering wheel. You evil person.
-
It could be the power steering pump.
Mine does this on full lock, especially when parking, (makes a squealing noise) but (touch wood!!!) doesnt seem to be leaking any fluid, yet!

Something squeaking would suggest to me a dry bearing or bush, a bush or bearing that has failed will tend to knock or rattle.
-
tension the power steering belt problem solved
-
thanks for all the replys im going to have a good check tommorow to see if i can figure it out.
it cant be nothing too major i was thinking the bushs or belt. but we will see :undecided:

Been low on fluid recently? It could be air in the system, 2000 revs and hold on full lock for about 10 seconds, then try it. Do it a couple of times and see if it improves, if it does, keep doing it until it stops.
I'm not saying it will solve it, but it is worth a try.
-
yeah i will give it a try matey thanks for your help

Did this work?
-
As I said in my earlier post a squeaking will be a dry bearing or bush, air in the pas system is a different noise all together.
-
ok, i havent had a chance to even saee my car yet because of work but got tommorow off so will give all the ideas a try.
-
Has this just happened randomly...or have you been doing anything to your car before hand?
Just i'm also having the same issue with my car, the only thing is i have dropped my car on some SPAX springs and shocks 60mm...so im not sure if this is normal for the time being...im just guna wait a month and see what happens??

i havnt done any work onit recently as i just bought the car apart from the exhaust and a few bits and bobs, my car has also been lowered that is ofcourse the cause but i just need to find out what it acculay is though but i will let you know soon as i diagnose it.
