Title: Removing Bonnet & fitting New One
Post by: bazza2709 on 28 July 2009, 16:28
Hi Guys,

My bonnet is shot & as soon as I find another one (in Mystic Blue if anyone knows of one!) I am going to replace it.

Can anyone give me an idea of how I would remove the bonnet. Is it easy?

Thanks

Wayne

Easy enough to do but easier to do it with 2 people.

Put some card infront of the window as it will cost you a fortune to replace as its bonded and use the bonnet stay to take the weight and unclip it as you take the bonnet off. Also mark the position where the bonnet bolted to the hinges and fasten the new one in the same place and it should fit about right.

Thanks guys, I presume the bolts you mention are the ones at the top.

Old bonnet is in Yorkshire, think it is a bit far for ya mate

you dont need 2 people for it...have the bonnet up and unbolt each side, the gently remove the bonnet support bar/stick and lift the bonnet off, reverse for fitting, slide the bonnet on and then lift it up and support it with tht bar again, the bolts in...easy peasy :)
