Title: found another abf donor that is being held for me
Post by: richard s on 28 July 2009, 15:34
found another abf this time its in a seat ibiza he will chop the front end off behind the shifter and give me everything in front of it  so what does this mean in terms of wiring is it a case of unpicking the lighting loom or is there more stuff wired in
it has a transponder key and aircon so i take it its a later model as i cant remember what year it is

if it has the transponder it'll be a later model around 96ish is when they got fitted over here.  depends what seat it came from some have the lighting loom in with the engine loom some have it seperate, you'll see when you get it delivered!

does the rear engine mount need chopping or does the engine sit level without/what front mount do you use and is the ibiza widetrack

Main difference with the ibiza loom is the ecu sit on the passenger side instead of the drivers side.

once you have unpicked the lighting loom from it, its pretty much the same as the golf loom, although colours may vary on the wires compared to the fusebox faq!

shouldnt need to mess with the mounts if you fitr a std manifold + downpipe, some aftermarket 4 branch hit tunnel due to them being designed for a short block kr not tall block abf.  if you get whole car this means tank, pump & lines included too, which is handy if your car not a gti already :)

cheers guys
wiring wise i was thinking about labelling all the plugs as i take it out and then once out identifying the lighting plugs fusebox end and start removing from loom does this sound about right or is there a better way that you guys use
cheers

thats about it to be honest,

lighting plugs are easy to identify in the fusebox, they are all yellow, white plugs are the engine loom.

car turned up this morning so after a cuppa i stripped the wings bonnet and front panel then began stripping out the wiring then got bored and took the aircon stuff and dash out then back to de wiring and had to remove heater/aircon box to get wiring out and as per sods law there was one nut holding the box in that turned out to be behind one of them stupid heatshield clips but the loom is now out yay just needs striping and spliting
