HMM im abit confused......are you after the smoked lights that go in the bumper? the non fog after market units still comes as one complete unit xcept theres not a fog in the bit where the fogs go its just blanked off where the bulbs would come thru.
Try venom motorsport or volksbits both sell both the units with real fogs and the dummy fog units, expect to pay around 50 quid for em (the dummy fog ones) hope this was ya question and hope it helps.

abc autodesigns/mhw sell them (and there made by the same co as o.e vw).... cost is around £20 for tow eye cover/fog blank in 1 piece

Plastic primer, gloss black spray paint, lacquer
Or is this the bodged way of doing things?

I did that with mine but i was left with a bright orange indicator....
So i got some savage tint spray and laquer...looks the part now!
completely black but the orange comes through when the indicator is on, thats what i'd suggest...
