Post by: buzzkip on 26 July 2009, 21:39
Good evening

Does anyone know roughly how much it would cost to completely respray a Mk3? (black)

Also fix little scratches a scuffs.

£500 would be a poo job! Where I am I am hoping to get mine resprayed for about £1500 and that is very cheap.

Gaz Blades, Heckmondwike 01924 409685

Long waiting list, a garage full of cars waiting to be painted (including enthusiasts cars) and where VW send their work. A testament to just how good this guy is.

Not cheap but the best VW painter in the UK, period.

Iam nothing to do with the company Iam just someone that used him and I was gob smacked at the result.

I've just had some touch up work on mine, door bottom, base of front wing, side of window and grill which cost £130 and for the top quality  job the guy has done it's money well spent

what colour is the car now?

If it's completely different to the colour you want it painted, the car will need EVERYTHING removed to respray it - engine and ancillaries, interior, head lining etc etc.  You're looking at at least a week to strip and prep a car for paint.  Painting is the easy bit.  You've then got 1-2 days to rub back and polish the paint if you want a good finish.

How much do you think upto 2 weeks work should cost?...now add the cost of the paint.  Less than £1,500 and you should know you're guy is massively cutting corners...which results in a crap finish.
