Title: 17" Mk3 new suspension (AFTER PICS)
Post by: LostBok on 31 August 2004, 11:39
1998 Mk Cabriolet, 17" alloys, with Toyo T1-S 205/40/17 tyres.

Going for Koni shocks, Eibach springs. Sorry 'VR6 - decided to blow the money and go with the AMD option...

Going for slightly lower, but still want it to be very subtle.

I was gonna go for 25mm lower, is it worth going 40mm or will the rubber start to disappear under the arches (NOT the look I'm after).

I've seen VR6's old Golf and that was apparently a 25mm drop on Weitecs and really did look perfect, but seen other drops that were apparently 40mm and Sono's 60mm and they looked slightly higher if anything!

Photo's of / opinions on other 25mm / 40mm / 60mm drops wd be very much appreciated!

I don't mind looking for the photo's in the gallery, just shout if yours is dropped and by how much (preferably on what suspension too).

Thanks.

Thought this had been well covered by now.

But i would say if ya dont want to hide the tyres and dont want any arch problems, then a 25mm drop is the max you should go.

me too... where's everybody gone??  :o

Ta Len, that's what I'm thinking - really don't want any chance of scrapes - on the bottom of the car or arches.

Basically the std suspension is just sloshes around a bit too much and the front left is a bit "funny".... so decided rather than replace a couple shocks, I'be better of getting the whole lot done properly.

laters!

Here we go, rushed pics in the sports club car park (so very dusty and dirty) and the car needs some serious "bumper care" treatment.

Excuses all done, here's the car with new suspension:

Is it just me or does the back look lower than the front??
