So yeah, my MK3 is officially dead for the minute until I replace the starter motor lol! I need to know whether I can use one from another MK3 other than the 1.8 or will I need a specific one?
-
Guessing but I would say that a 1.6 / 1.8 and 2.0 8V would be the same.
-
Just checked vagcat and they list 2 a 1.1kw and a 1.8kw.
I would think the bigger one is the one you need.
-
I'm gonna assume the 1.8kw version is for the bigger engine cars...? Or maybe not.

Yes I would say so, might be hard to see but old one should have a label on it with part number and specs.
I know a couple of local places that should have one if your stuck.
-
I need one tomorrow in time for Saturday morning, which is going to be a huge push for me :(
I'll have a look in the morning to see what info is on mine, I knew something would go wrong, always does just before some sort of show or event :(
-
As I said I know a couple of local places that should have one if your stuck, do you have a motor factors anywhere close to you.

Yeah just down the road, could give them a call and see how much they are, I don't want to pay through the nose for it this is my problem, anything over £50 and that is too much for me :(
-
You might get lucky, would think it would be more to be honest.

I really don't want to pay more, I have enough to pay for this car this month, this will just hurt me big time lol! I'll have to see tomorrow, I'll give them a call.

Why not pick up a s/h one as a temp measure for now.
-
i think you have to give them old one, to be able to get a new/refurb one.
Otherwise you get a £45 surcharge.
But i reckon you could get one for about £50.
Either that or the scrap yard.

I can give them the old one as they are literally up the road from me, if that's the case I'll do that, £50 is my max to spend, only problem from getting one from a scrappy is I have no scrappies within walking distance, miles away I tell you lol!
I don't mind having a second hand one at all, it's just getting it, I've posted up in the wanted here and in SWdubs, see what pops up there, I'll give YMF a call in the morning and see if they have one, if they need the old one I'll get it out and take it to them for the new one.
I was meant to be working in Dorchester at 10am tomorrow, no chance of that now lol!
-
I think even if you get up earlier your going to struggle to get to Dorchester for 10am.
Off topic any news on your job yet.

Yeah they are on the pricey side sadly, but look around (or get help from Wayne lol) and you'll get a cheapish one :)
