Are you talking about upgrading what you've currently got or adding more to the system?!

Are you happy with your current HU, Amp, Sub performance...?

What do you mean by blowing?! Distorting?!

Sounds like the settings on the hu or amp might be wrong.

Do you have bass boost on the amp on?
Do you have the bass up on your hu?
Do you have loud on?
Do you know how to set the gain on your amp!
What's your amp crossed over at?
Is it the sub or speakers that are distorting?

Thats mine but not actually mine if ya get me!

I have put everything to 45 degrees so all level and when I do play lets say a gansta solider boy song or 50cent sometimes I believe the speaker mite zzzz, if it was the amp it would sound louder??? Can only really put it to volume 20 otherwise it can sound tinny. Altered it on stereo to pretty much near damit...

Well the Fli sub you got aint built to last long so chuck the old duffer and spend a little more money on something decent. Then personally i'd recommend changng the HU because that is the source of all your speaker/sub outputs, so if you've got a crappy HU, then in theory the sound coming out it will be wack also!

Worth a think maybe.

Setting up your gains/amp/hu.

First thing thing all audio controls need to be on there lowest setting.

On HU. Turn off loudness, bass/mid/treble on 0.

Looking at your amp (or similiar)

Turn your Gain down all the way to the left.
Next, Bass boost completely off
Now the Freq is dependant on a few other things but for the moment turn it to the middle.

Turn your HU up as loud as it goes without distortion on the standard speakers.

Now turn up the amp until you hear it distort then back it off a bit so it doesn't distort.

This is only a rough idea on how to set up your system.

If your system isn't loud enough set up like this, then it just isn't powerful enough.

When you turn the HU on the amp light doesn't!

could be a couple of things. The remote is not telling the amp to turn on or there is no power getting to the amp from the battery.

Check your power cable. You want good connections on both batt & amp, make sure there is no breaks in the cable also & double check your fuse. Wouldn't hurt to put another in.

Check your remote also. Again make sure there both terminated well & that there is no breaks in the cable.

Some HUs have the ability to turn the amp on/off in a menu!

Ideally you want a voltmeter to see what is/isn't getting 12v.

Thank you...have checked the stereo kenwood kdc-w7031 and checked aint turned amp on or off and whatever setting I use then amp light still wont turn on regardless.

When I had the amp fitted it was fine, mate ages ago did something to me stereo and had to have it looked at and guy sed something to do with earth wire? Anyway ever since it was fixed it does a popping sound when I connect the HU, but now no longer popping hence I knew something was up and no light either.

Will buy a volt checker cos at min am runnin round with no boom boom.

Can you recommend any better head units to w7031 which I got? Want a more cinema sound? full sound as sitting in other cars they have a full intense sound compared to my flatish sound which I thought was good until I sat in other cars

What do you mean by fuller sound?

You want to hear more freq range?
Louder bass?
Clearer front end?

If speakers pop when amp turns off sounds like the amp is bust mate. I had that with mine & it's being fixed. Think it's something to do with the ground.

Hu's. I like alpine sound, but units like pioneer p77 are good. Old school but packed full of features.

Meant when I connect the face to the HU...it used to pop and now nothing...used to be my indicator that it was working...Speakers never popped when I took the face of the HU??

cheap to fix? is it just a wire that connects HU to car or actually inside the HU or in the amp? (pray its jus the block to connect HU to car)

No normally its the internals of the component itself.

First thing to do, check all your connections, then re-check.

Also what has worked in the past is getting an rca with a ground & grounding that. Any interference in the rca will be grounded & may help.

These are long shots as in my experience its repair of replace time!!!

wud it be easier to get a new HU? or is that not the problem?

Or

New amp is the problem?

You'll need to find someone with an amp or HU.

Switch them around. When it doesn't do it you've found what the problem is.

Simples!

expensive problem solving!!!

But anyways...as for the amp can I just buy any amp? Just confused how it will link onto the fli as it is a sealed unit?

Off on ebay to have a look for amps

Just connect it as normal. An active sub box is only a sub box with an amp screwed to it.

All you need is a mate with an hu. Replace them if it still happens it's the amp.

Should take bout 20mins mate.

How much have you got to spend on an amp?

In all honesty your probably better off saving up & getting a new hu, then amp.
