I found it down by the intercooler, and comes off the loom down by the headlight and washer bottle. Couldn't see where it came from
Thanks
Tim

Dunno, but have you been chewing it?
Could be for something your motor aint got fitted, perhaps a connector for headlight washers over in that area?
-
Is it not for the high beam/aux lamps?
-
It's not the brake pad wear sensor is it? That may explain when it appears to have been sanded flat at one side?
-
By the way it's not throwing any codes. So i'm doubting it's the brake pad sensor. Could be for something I havent got..I'm pretty sure it's not for the lamp as they're all working fine (I think)
-
washer bottle low level sensor maybe.

Isn't there a plug that goes into the back of the prong bit, though? :undecided:

not sure - mine came off in one piece when i swapped washer bottles and ETKA proves inconclusive :undecided:
-
Its probably the plug that tells the headlight washers (if fitted) that the headlights are on and that they need to spray....
EDIT... Just seen reply No2, I am with him!! :lipsrsealed:

Brake pad sensor that big
Its prob for headlight washers as someones already said.

Ah that's cool then, thanks for all your help guys! Saying that my level low doesn't work on the washer bottle, is tht the sensor that is on the bumper side of the bottle near the bottom?

yeah there should be a round hole at the front of the washer bottle as per this diagram (ignore the fact its the 5.5.litre bottle)

Thought low washer bottle warning was part of the "winter pack" but I think it does depend on the year of the car as some have it regardless!!

Mines a late 2000 AUM. My old '98 TDI used to have a warning.

i found a plug the same as this down the side of my intercooler and i found were it came from, it was from the bonnet sensor , which tell when you need a service by how many times you open your bonnet , thats proberly why people take them off ... i could be that if you still havnt found where it came from

I haven't been out to the car as it's been chucking it down! Can wait for another day, if it was important i'd have a code.

That there   so if you service your car and then spend an hour opening and closing your bonnet your going to need a service again
-
its linked to the service light ie opening and closing door , mileage ,starting it and opening and closing the bonnet ... i read it in the hanns manual i found my one off on my car and wanted to know what it did before i plugged it back in :smug:
